Ascona is a small town with a pedestrian lakeside and historical town center and one can reach each corner in a few minutes on foot. There are eleven Swiss heritage site of national significance in Ascona.
There are three churches on the list, the church of S. Maria della Misericordia with the Collegio Papio, the Church of S. Michele with the ruins of a medieval castle and the Parish Church of Ss. Pietro e Paolo.
Three houses are on the list, the Serodine House, the Unifamiliare Tuia House and the Villa at via Ludwig 26. The Balladrum, a prehistoric and medieval settlement as well as the Albergo, a park, complex of houses and the Monte Verità Museum are also on the list.
ASCONA JAZZ FESTIVAL
Specialized in classic jazz and the music of New Orleans, the festival attracts a knowledgeable and enthusiastic audience from all over the world who appreciates the richness of the program, the special productions put on for the occasion.
But also the close contact with the musicians, the relaxed atmosphere, and the spectacular scenery offered by the mountains and the Lake Maggiore, a beautiful background to the lakeshore concerts packed with people.
The festival offers an outstanding variety of styles that range from early New Orleans jazz to Chicago style jazz; from swing to mainstream, including blues, gospel, R&B and funk.
New since 2013 edition: completely free of charge access to the weekday concerts, with the exception of some “Ascona Specials”. During the weekend the access to the whole festival area will be at a set price of CHF 20.00.

The festival program consists of about twenty concerts each day.
These will be held in bars, restaurants and on the official festival stages.
Concerts in bars and restaurants start early and continue in the afternoon and evening.
