Grammy Award-winning artist Lauryn Hill is set to headline the Tobago Jazz Music Festival.
From April 16–24, festivalgoers will celebrate the indigenous music of Tobago from local Rapso group 3Canal, reggae band Third World and Bajan saxophonist Arturo Tappin along with a number of local and international artists yet to be named.

The nine-day festival is the island’s biggest annual music event and has drawn musical enthusiasts from around the world along with chart-toppers such as John Legend, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, George Benson, Erykah Badu, Trey Songz, Angie Stone and India Arie.
Beyond festival activities, attendees can enjoy Tobago’s vibrant culture, rich history, tranquil beaches, diverse cuisine, renowned diving sites and exotic plants and wildlife and friendly locals.

The Tobago Jazz Experience is Tobago’s biggest annual music event, an exciting celebration of Jazz, the indigenous music of Trinidad and Tobago and new music from around the world.
Taking place on one of the world’s most idyllic tropical islands, the festival offers “much more than music”, representing everything Tobago is renowned for.
The most famous Tobago legend is of Gang Gang Sara, the African witch of Golden Lane. One version is that in the latter half of the 18th Century, on a stormy night, she was blown from her home in Africa across the sea to Tobago and landed quite safely at the village of Les Coteaux.
From there she journeyed to Golden Lane in search of her family who had long been transported there. She lived to a ripe old age. Gang Gang Sarah was the loving wife of Long Tom, whom legend says she had known as a child in her native Africa.
After Tom died, wishing to return to her native land, she tried to fly, not knowing she had lost the art of flight as a result of eating salt.
To this day, the names of Tom and Sara can be seen inscribed upon two headstones in Golden Lane where some claim they lie side by side for over two hundred (200) years.
