The DC Jazz Festival announced its 2016 dates and major performance venues at its Annual Trustee Gala last night.
Expanding an impressive event already deemed one of the summer’s top “50 Essential Festivals” by The New York Times - the 2016 DC Jazz Festival dates will be June 10-19, 2016, presenting DC’s best live jazz performances throughout the district.

The fastest-growing jazz festival in the U.S., the DC JazzFest will include a June 13 return to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.
The Festival’s outdoor showcase on the Capitol Riverfront at Yards Park returns for the third year - with an added third day of world-class jazz and extensions at the innovative Yards Park overlooking the Anacostia River.
Returning this year is Jazz at Hamilton Live presented by the DC Jazz Festival and The Washington Post.
“The DC JazzFest epitomizes a district-wide cultural event, bringing great music to all four quadrants of our peerless international area,” said Artistic Director Willard Jenkins. “The depth of talent we’re able to present is truly remarkable, and underscores the breadth of the genre.”

The DC Jazz Festival and The Washington Post Present Jazz at Hamilton Live (June 10-19) Jazz at Hamilton Live will feature seven nights of exciting, eclectic performances, including performances from internationally recognized pioneers and artists in the jazz community.

DC Jazz Festival and Events DC Present Jazz in the ‘Hoods (June 10-19) This series represents an exciting partnership with local clubs, restaurants, hotels and galleries in celebration of jazz in our nation’s capital.
Jazz in the ‘Hoods takes place throughout the city, presenting a mix of local and nationally recognized artists in an attempt to celebrate the genre.
It has a tradition of attracting large, varied audiences of DC residents and tourists of great diversity. The series includes the CapitalBop D.C. Jazz Loft Series featuring innovative, boundary-breaking and beyond-jazz artists, the East River JazzFest and a partnership with Transparent Productions.
Jazz in the ‘Hoods performances will also be held at Bohemian Caverns, Twins Jazz, Gallery O/H, National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, THEARC, Sixth & I Historic Synagogue, the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, the Japanese Information and Culture Center, New York University’s Abramson Auditorium, the Embassy of France, UDC/Jazz Alive, and other venues across DC, including locations within the National Park Service.
